Barbaresco Gaja 1996Barbaresco Gaja 1996. Alcohol content 13.5% vol. 100% from Nebbiolo grapes. Matured in casks for 18/20 months and aged in bottle for about 24 months. The colour is garnet red with some orange hints and good density. On the nose it is intriguing with hints of cherries in alcohol, berries, dried flowers, truffles, earth, minerals and sweet spices. On the palate it is rich, full-bodied, balanced and elegant, with a very long fruity length and slight notes of goudron. One of the best Barbaresco of Gaja. Definitely not yet at its peak.
